Iaido: Traditional Japanese Swordsmanship of the Samurai
The Kenshokan dojo offers training in the martial art of iaido, traditional Japanese swordsmanship. Iaido has its roots in the samurai class of ancient Japan, where it was said the sword was the "soul of the samurai."
We are affiliated with the Mu Mon Kai Iaido club of the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre in Toronto, and we offer training in Seitei Iai Gata and the traditional school of Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu.
Iaido also serves as an excellent complement to other martial arts!
For those interested in competition (not a requirement), Kenshokan members have achieved several medals in local, provincial, and national championships!
Classes are taught in Peterborough and Oshawa by J. Wilson (5th dan Iaido, 7th dan Karate), who has over 35 years experience in martial arts.
As we are not a business nor trying to make a profit, dues are only $30 a month. Student discounts are also available. The training of individuals is our top priority!
We also offer instruction in Zendokan Dharma Kumiai Karate.
