In 1977 during the Monster Receiver Wars.. Hitachi released the SR-2004 Class G Monster DYNAHARMONY Receiver which was conservatively rated at 200W per channel.. but when tested actually produced 240W per channel and Peaked at 400W per channel which is why it was widely acclaimed as one of the top 10 Monster Receivers of all time and often sold on Ebay for over $2000 U.S... The SR-904 rated at 75W per channel is it's "LITTLE BROTHER" which when bench tested performs much like its larger sibling..
CLASS G was an EXPENSIVE high output, three rail, amplifier stage designed and manufactured 100% in house by HITACHI.. and later copied by CARVER, NAD, YAMAHA in many of their HIGHER output offerings.. Look at the picture closely.. It is sitting on top of a 22 series MARANTZ ....lol Get the picture... It's RARE ... Its IMPRESSIVE .. IT's a TRUE MONSTER from the 70's era.. Auditions are welcomed.. We are OPEN SAT-SUN 9-5.. located inside Gibraltar trade centre.. We are THE HIDDEN HIFI... & Check my other Adds for other RARE Vintage HiFi... Drop by for a listen and then tell Glen.. It's REAL and it's spectacular . Glen pay attention to this You might actually learn something about amp design.. The CLASS G amplifier design tended to cause confusion when Hitachi rated their amplifiers.. Here is how HITACHI rated this in 1977...
75W + 75W @ 8ohm less than .09 THD
95W + 95W @ 8ohm less than .10 THD
150W + 150W @ 8 ohm Non-Clipping
As stated above these amplifiers were very conservatively rated and actually produced more power than their owners manual stated.. But these rating came directly from Hitachi suffice to say... Its nice..
