For great sound, I suggest these CDPs instead:

*********************************************************************************************************** WORLD VOLTAGE: 110V - 230V; Currently set to 110V; ask if you need 230V.

A BEAUTY; ONE OF THE ICONIC CD PLAYERS OF THE 20TH CENTURY A predecessor of the equally famous CD-67SE (also listed, see my other ads)

*********************************************************** When 67SE came out the reviewers were not as enthusiastic as with 63SE, it's because 63SE sounds about 5% to 10% more euphonious, and definitely warmer, almost perfectly analog-like. They are both colored, of course; if you want an analytical tool (not a music instrument), get a Denon DN-C615 or Esoteric DV-60 instead, but those are entirely different, no honey added at all, many folks will not like that. The 67SE is about 5% more precise, but 63SE is more pleasurable to listen to in A/B comparison, and overall feels more wholesome/more organic in presentation. It's hard to put the ultimate difference in words, it's not big, but it's there. It will matter to a picky audiophile with golden ears. To really figure out the difference one has to listen for at least half an hour, with a critically revealing stereo system and well known music. I'm lucky enough to own a few stereo setups just like that :) If you want pure pleasure, CD67SE and CD63SE are as good as it gets, for the used market price. Unlike 67SE the 63SE is Made In Japan. ***********************************************************

Stereophile recommended component; Highly musical, harshness-free, rich sound; feels analog-like. Sound-wise it is light years better than new millennium curved shape CD5003, CD5004 and the likes; I know because I owned them all, at different times.

CLEAN, ALL-ORIGINAL, FULLY SERVICED, WORKS AND SOUNDS LIKE NEW Comes with original Marantz remote control.

This Marantz will be tested for local buyer at the front door with a nice vintage amp and speakers; Can be shipped, keep reading.

The 63SE weighs 5.6 KG vs 4.1 Kg for regular 63 edition.

It makes sense to buy Special Edition, not standard CD63; almost all of the mods shown here (CAD $130 cost + labour) are already done in Special Edition by manufacturer with the same or better parts (plus some extra upgrades): https://www.ebay.ca/itm/High-End-Mod-kit-upgrade-for-Marantz-CD67/193398848460

2-hrs maintenance service done 08/2023:

* Taken apart, cleaned and detailed in and out; * Transport pulled out; * Transport gears lubed/greased; * Motors lubed; * All potentiometers/controls/connectors deoxed/lubed using pro grade D100/D5/G5 ($126/3 cans); * Laser lens cleaned; * New matched tray loading belt installed * Reassembled, fully tested

This wonderful Marantz jewel is low hours, all-original, no mods, no repairs; Hard to find like that.

Please note that display is very beautiful deep aquamarine green, not blue, it shines like a jewel; the camera cannot translate that colour properly; Also note that the internal bracing bar was temporarily removed to take pictures, to show all of internal components view.

Priced to go

* Designed in U*S*A, Made In Japan (unlike 67SE that was assembled in Indonesia with Japanese and Hong-Kong made parts) * Production: 1994 * MSRP: US$540 = CAD $699 in 1994 = CAD $1292 plus tax in 2023, per Bank of Canada inflation calculator; that's how much it would cost if made today. This is a high-end CD player.

GREAT ENGINEERING:

Lampizator's opinion: http://www.lampizator.eu/lampizator/REFERENCES/MARANTZ%2063SE/marantz%20cd63se.html

"This is a legendary player - one of the all times best-sellers. Cheap but sounding like high end. After lampization it really shines. It has raw, dynamic, energetic, if maybe not most refined sound. Many companies used to tweak it and mod it, because it is such great base unit. The owner of this player claims, that he is on love with it, he does not want anything better, and that when confronted with regular high-end players of his buddies - it mopped the floor with them. After hearing it - I believe this guy. He has no reason to lie to me. Mopping the floor for sure."
