Firestone 700-16 bias ply tires are perfect for the rear of hot rods and they're great all around for classic trucks. The tires are also authentic for 1936 through 1940 Cadillac, 1934 through 1939 Buick, and 1935 through 1948 Packard. The tire features a 4 inch wide whitewall. The tires feature Firestone's authentic pie crust sidewall design and Firestone's famous zig zag tread design. The tires are hand built in the USA from premium materials. Genuine Wide Whitewall Tire
This product features a genuine wide whitewall sidewall style. This means that the bright white rubber is added directly to the tire sidewall during initial construction of the carcass, resulting in a truly integrated, high-quality product after vulcanization. Wide whitewall tires were a very popular choice from the 1930's through the end of the 1950's, and were eventually phased out of mainstream production by 1962. Originally, wide whitewall tires featured a bias ply construction, but now Coker Tire offers them in original style bias ply and modern radial construction.
Bias Ply Construction
Bias ply tire construction is a method that was used from the 1900's through the 1970's on passenger cars and light trucks. Bias ply tires feature ply cords that run at a 45 degree angle to the bead, and overlap in a crisscross pattern, depending on how many ply layers are used. This creates a strong tire, but bias ply tires have a tendency to follow breaks or ruts in the pavement.
