Private Tutor - Grades 1 to 8, Certified Teacher

My name is Amanda Ward, and I’m a certified teacher who has many years of experience working as a teacher, tutor, and educational assistant in various schools and learning centers.

I provide high quality 1-on-1 tutoring sessions in students’ homes. And I specialize in teaching reading, writing, and English as an Additional Language to students in Grades 1-8.

Here’s a short summary of my program:

• Free in-home consultation for new students. • Assessments, Individualized Education Plan, and ongoing feedback. • Beverley Tyner’s Word Study Program for reading, spelling, and writing. • Levelled reading using both narrative and expository books. • Reading comprehension exercises. • Writing skills instruction. • Study skills, research projects, presentations, and homework help. • Math and practical problem solving activities.

I provide all of the books, resources, and games for each session.

Tutoring sessions are one hour long in duration and they are usually scheduled once or twice a week, on a month-by-month basis.

I’m available days, evenings and weekends during the school year. And my program also runs during the summer months.
