Comfortable, rustic cottage in a beautiful setting on a pretty, spring fed lake in Muskoka, east of Bracebridge. The lake is great for swimming and fishing. There are also numerous boats and docks, trampolines, etc. for fun in the water. (See below.)
The original cottage is an A frame, with a split log exterior, about 60 feet from the lakeshore along a relatively flat, pine needle strewn path. We have recently added a new 2 bedroom wing with stunning views of the lake. Each bedroom has sliding glass doors which open onto a 20' x 12' deck. One has a queen brass bed and the other a bunk bed with a 3rd pull out mattress. The new wing also has a second, two piece bathroom. Deck has two BBQs and a grand wooden table that seats 10.
Inside the A frame, the main floor consists of a bedroom with a new log-style queen size bed, a bathroom with a shower, sink and toilet, a kitchen which is fully equipped including microwave, and dining and living areas which face the lake. There is a new glass door fire place/wood stove in the living area. The furniture includes a double sofa bed. There are 2 TVs, a DVD and VCR for movies (there is no TV reception) and a stereo. The floor is maple. The front of the A frame facing the lake is basically glass, with a sliding glass door opening onto the front deck. The upstairs loft consists of 2 bedrooms with steep-angled walls that can sleep up to 4 kids (no adults). Maximum capacity for adults - 8, maximum for adults and kids - 10.
The cottage has southern and western exposure so there's lots of sun at the waterfront, with beautiful sunsets. The property is very well treed so there is also lots of cool shade and privacy away from the water. The shoreline consists of 1) a large fixed dock, that is about 10 feet wide and extends out about 30 feet, at the end of which is a new 12 x 16 foot floating extension and 2) a large, flat natural rock slab that slopes gently into the water until it meets the natural mud bottom of the lake a few feet out. The dock extension is ideal for lounging, with comfortable wooden chairs and an umbrella covered table. The water there is deep enough to jump into and there is also a swimming ladder for water entry. Small kids (and adults) can also enter the water from shore. There is also a floating dock about 50 feet out that you can dive off of, as well as a 12' floating trampoline. Also 3 kayaks (one a double kayak), paddle boat, row boat, canoe and 2 stand-up paddle rigs. No sandy beach, although there is a small sand box by the shore.
Good golf courses and public tennis courts are within a half hour drive, in Bracebridge. There are several other golf courses within a 50 minute drive.
Price is $1700/week during July and Aug., $1200 otherwise, all inclusive. $250 security deposit required. Available for spring and fall weekends (inquire re rates). No summer weekend rentals.
