The Neuropsychiatric Patients’ Association of Newfoundland and Labrador is a non-profit organization that has weekly neurocognitive neurorehabilitation sessions for patients with brain injuries of any nature (i.e. Autism, Huntington's, Stroke, Parkinson's, Multiple Sclerosis, Epilepsy/Seizures and many others).

The NPA is looking to recruit members of the community with creative minds (such as artists/recreational therapists/musicians, etc.) and skills that would aid in the implementation of various rehabilitative activities (crafts/games/music) with patients. Most, if not all, neurocognitive rehabilitation activities involve learning a new skill and frequently entail using the hands and the brain simultaneously. Some examples include:

• Music
o piano
o guitar
o drumming
o etc.

• Games of Strategy (not luck)
o chess
o go (ancient Japanese game)

• Language
o French
o Spanish
o etc.

• Arts and Crafts
o painting
o drawing
o embroidery
o scrapbooking
o woodwork

o cooking/baking

Confidentiality is of the utmost importance. Police record check and vulnerable sector check may be required, due to the vulnerable nature of the population being served. Volunteers must possess a sense of patience, understanding and must be professional at all times. Training or experience preferred.
