Hi, I have started a 1000 warm wishes club to help keep families and the homeless stay warm during the winter. I am asking for the help of volunteers who can give their time and craft to make hats, scarves, mittens, blankets and socks to help keep those who can't afford the simple items they need to stay warm during the winter.
We also make milk bag mats for the homeless and ask for members to save us their milk bags and grocery bags. If you are interested in learning to make the mats we can teach you to make them as well. I am starting what I call a warming kit and hope to be able to put some together for each milk bag mat that is made.
If you can sew, crochet or knit and would like to participate and help me reach the 1000 item goal please contact me. If you'd like to participate but don't know how to make any of the above you can either donate yarns or material or we could teach you to make these things.
It's going to take a community of volunteers to help keep everyone in need warm. I am doing this because the Lord has put this on my heart and because I was shocked to learn of just how many are in need of help in our city and more is needed every day. I am not asking for any money but do except donations.Your time and donations would be greatly appreciated. Once a bunch of these items are done we then donate them to the Street Help/Unit 7 shelter in Windsor and some other local shelters or centres who then distribute the items. I also make some items to sell and the proceeds go towards the purchase of yarn.
Together we can make a difference. I'd also like to work on maybe making chemo and premie hats for the local hospitals. You can also find us on Facebook at 1000 Warm Wishes where you can find some of the patterns we use but are welcomed to use any pattern you may prefer as well. Here is the link to our facebook page:
Please contact if interested in either making these items, donating to our cause or would like to order an item. Thanks
