Job Summary: The Accountant will oversee the financial operations of the eye clinic, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This role will involve managing financial reporting, budgeting, and auditing processes while collaborating with clinic management to provide strategic financial insights. Key Responsibilities: • Prepare and examine financial records, statements, and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with Canadian accounting standards and regulations. • Manage bookkeeping, including posting journal entries and reconciling accounts. • Review accounting records and generate financial statements and reports. • Oversee accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely invoicing and collections. • Prepare tax returns and assist in tax planning to ensure timely and accurate filing. • Monitor cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting. • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and regulatory bodies. • Conduct internal audits and assist external auditors during audits. • Advise management on financial decisions, cost-saving opportunities, and financial risks. • Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations and tax laws in Canada. • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP. • Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, and financial models to support clinic operations and decision-making. • Assist in the preparation for external audits and liaise with auditors as necessary. • Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard clinic assets and ensure the integrity of financial information. • Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to improve financial performance and operational efficiency. • Provide training and mentorship to junior accounting staff as needed. Qualifications and Experience: • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. • 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a healthcare or clinical setting. • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices. • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Excel. • Advanced knowledge on Excel (Pivot table, VLOOKUPs, and other formulas) and reports • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. • Ability to communicate effectively with non-financial staff. Schedule: • Monday to Friday 10:00am - 6:00pm Work Environment: This position is based in an office environment within the eye clinic, with occasional interactions in clinical areas. Standard working hours, with some flexibility required during peak periods.
