The Opportunity The Health and Safety Officer will work alongside with the national health and safety team and local operations, and be responsible for completing various administrative duties such as, entering data into excel spreadsheets, reporting, uploading monitoring and enforcing compliance with national programs and participating in audits, monthly meetings and inspections. In addition to safety, this position will also play a role in operations analytics. They will pull data, create weekly, monthly and quietly reports. Job DutiesDevelop Health and safety stats and trending analysis for local and regional sitesUpdate safety metrics and administer Safety Incident Tracking database weeklyPerforms data entry to ensure quality on incident tracking systems, monitor and set for approval, create reportsStandardize and develop PowerPoint presentationsProvide support and administrative assistance to the health and safety teamCommunicate information to employees regarding health and safety policies and proceduresPrepare detailed statistical trend analysis and develop reports and presentations including the preparation of graphs and chartsResponsible for communication on safety bulletin boards and develop other means of communicationAttend, facilitate and participate in weekly safety talks, monthly meetings and auditsElectronic filing to be done on a daily basis keeping up with all trackers to ensure the correct information is available to all members of the teamProcessing and finalizing reports to be completed in a timely matterManage Safety Sync training MatrixAssist in safety audits, COR compliance RequirementsPost-secondary education (degree or diploma) in health and safety, or equivalent education and experienceConstruction experience would be as asset3-5 years’ experience as an Health and Safety Officer or in a related roleComprehensive/working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation and industry safety standardsWilling to travelValid Driver’s LicenseStrong computer proficiency including MS Office, power point, excel and computer databasesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong interpersonal, organizational, communication and presentation skillsSelf-starting proactive individual who can work well independently and in a team environmentA Strong attention to detailAble to work well under pressure and meet set deadlinesProven ability to work independently in a busy and varied environmentEnergetic, goal oriented, enthusiastic and a positive attitude GFL Infrastructure Group is an equal opportunity employer and encourages applications from all qualified individuals.
