Description

McCormick Analog “M50” amp + cab This amp is a custom build by Calvin McCormick (Hiwatt, McCormick Analog). Cab is custom built by Saxon cabs. It is based on the classic Marshall 50W JCM800 2204 with Marshall 1936 cab… with some improvements. (This is not a kit - this is custom designed by professional amp and cab builders) *** AMP SPECS: - JCM800 (2204) style handwired circuit - 2 x EL34 power tubes with overspec Hammond output transformer (50w+) - 3 x 12AX7 preamp tubes - built in Canada - 24” wide x 12” deep x 11” tall - chassis signed by Calvin McCormick (designer/builder) - white tolex Controls - Presence, Bass, Mid, Treble, Gain, Master Volume - Boost switch - 3-way bright cap switch (normal - bright - brighter) - PPIV (post phase-inverter) master volume on the back (this is like a built-in attenuator) - 4/8/16 ohm output - High and Low inputs *** CAB SPECS: - vertical 2x12 150-watt 8ohm - 22” wide x 14” deep x 29” tall - slanted baffle (speakers point slightly upward) - plywood construction - large recessed handles - convertible (removeable back panel for open-back or closed-back operation) - custom made by Saxon (built in Canada) - includes port for 2nd jack, currently unused, but can be used to wire in stereo if desired - UK-made Celestion G12T-75 speakers (same spec as Marshall JCM800 1936 cab) - white tolex *** Instant AC/DC tone naturally, or early Black Sabbath tones with bright switch engaged, or early Van Halen tones with Boost engaged. Surprisingly good clean tones on the Low input or with guitar volume rolled down. PPIV lets you get mighty tones at quiet volume when needed… but at full power, it sounds GLORIOUS. Marshall ‘KERRANG’ and then some. 3-way bright switch adds a little or a lot of ‘bite’. When off, you have classic mid-heavy Marshall tone. Turning it on adds more high-end sparkle, which gives more of a vintage feel to clean/crunch tones, and adds extra clarity to overdrive tones. The Hammond transformer packs a TON of punch, with incredible touch sensitivity - or turn down the PPIV to get a smoother, compressed feel, more like a Friedman BE. Responds great to pedals and guitar volume knob adjustments, like most vintage handwired amps do. One-of-a-kind amp, meticulously handwired, old-school design, easily serviceable. No digital chips/boards/nonsense inside. This amp served me very well for a few years, studio use only, no smoke, no pets. Functionally in perfect condition. Recently changed power tubes still have low hours on them. Cosmetically in great condition EXCEPT that there is tolex marking/tearing on the top side of the head, which is shown in the photos. Cash/e-transfer preferred. Not really looking for any specific trades… but you never know… so you can try your trades or “trade + cash” if you wish… though I will warn you that I’m picky. You are welcome to try before you buy, it does not disasspoint. (Located near Long & McQuade Richmond Hill) Any questions, just ask.
