Mesa Lonestar (Lone Star) Classic 100w Tube Amp for sale This amp has been called Mesa Boogie's take on the 'Twin' Reverb - it certainly is an American/Fender-style vibe overall. Clean channel does a great sparkly, chimey clean as you'd expect but it also has a fantastic edge-of-breakup sound if you are into that (that's where I think this amp shines best). Overdrive channel has two gain stages (you can toggle the first one on/off) and a toggle switch for selecting how 'thick' you want the sound to be. I found this a useful tool for switching guitars without having to completely redo all of the tone stack. Asides from that, both channels can be independently use in either 50 or 100-watt modes; there is a solo boost feature accessed by what is basically a second master volume (foot switchable as well), and the amp can be run in regular or 'tweed' mode - which is a feature on many Mesa amps that limits the amount of voltage being sent to the power section for more 'sag'. I am not sure you can hear the difference as much as feel it as the player. I believe the target audience for this amp was country/blues players but it caught my eye as the amp of one of the guys in Touche Amore. It truly excels in edge-of-breakup territory with some overdrive pedals to push it over the top. Let me know if you have any questions! Thanks for your interest.
