VINTAGE ALPS JAPANSE TIN LITH MOTORYCLE

This is an original Vintage Tin Litho Motorcycle friction toy made in Japan by Alps Toys. This toy dates to the 1950's. The graphics are really nice on this toy with minor paint scrapes on the gas tank by the emblem. The license plate is nice as is the PD letters standing for Police Department. This is a rare friction toy that I have never seen before. It supposedly does wheelies and thus the wire device coming out on both sides to maintain it's verticality. The friction motor is working but I could not wind the piece because I have no key to wind it. Interestingly also, the rider is spring loaded and if you press down on him, he bounces back up. Not sure why that is. Obviously missing handle bars and arms to hold them. The paint on the bottom and sides is in amazing condition for a plus 60 year old toy. Still displays quite nicely. Measures 15cms long x 12 cms high.
