This painting was obviously created from near the Battery Lookoff and was mostly created on site in 1999 while I was teaching in the city ( I completed it in Nova Scotia when I returned home). It is 48 inches by 60 inches and the acrylic paint, used like transparent watercolour, is coated with 5 layers of acrylic seal to protect it. I painted on cotton sailcloth to hearken to the memories of sail which so defined the St. John’s Harbour’s early days. It’s intended to be hung without a frame from the brass eyelets at the top and bottom of the image. I’ve tried to evoke the feelings of awe and inspiration every time I visit the harbour and city. It was painted very quickly in bold strokes as a means of preserving the excitement I feel about the very special place. I also am selling a similar painting but one that has the harbour entrance bouy and Cape Spear with a dramatic sky which I’ve attached but will make a new ad for it.
I can possibly deliver to Bridgewater-Lunenburg or further afield to Kentville or Halifax and in between. Maybe even further afield. It’s intended to be rolled up so can be transported in a tube. I am willing to prepare for domestic shipping anywhere in Canada at buyer’s expense.
