TALES OF THE OLD TOWN by Leishman McNeill CALGARY 1875-1950

The contents of this book are a compiled series of articles, photographs, and illustrations that were written for the Calgary Herald newspaper during Calgary’s 75th anniversary celebrations. About 25,000 of these 1st edition copies were made in 1950; a second printing was made in 1967. The book is in excellent nearly-75 year old condition. The 92 inside pages have yellowed evenly and have no tears, writing, or stains. The black and grey-tone text and photographs are easy to read and in excellent condition. The paper wrap cover is solidly attached to the text pages, the sepia-toned letters and photo on the cover are intact, but there are a few blemishes (shown on my photos): a rip at the top of the spine has extended onto the front cover where there is also a crease; the bottom of the spine has a small rip; the bottom edge of the front cover has 2 small tears and a chipped corner; there are a few tiny sepia marks dotted on the front and back. Photo 9 is closest color match of this booklet, which is a great piece of Calgary's history for collectors.
