2009-2010 was a brilliant year for Bayern. They won the Bundesliga on the final day, pipping their rivals Schalke to the title. They also won the DFB-Pokal, beating Werder Bremen 4-0 in the final. They came so close to a legendary treble, making it to the Champions League Final but unfortunately losing to Mourinho’s Inter Milan.
09-10 was Robben’s first season at Bayern and he finished as top scorer with 23 goals. He scored a legendary volley in the 74th minute at Old Trafford to shock the footballing world and knock United out of the quarterfinals of the Champions League. He also scored the winning goal in the DFB-Pokal final and crucial Champions League goals against Fiorentina. On 25 May 2010, Robben was named Footballer of the Year in Germany for 2010. He was the fourth foreigner and the first Dutchman to win the title.
