Description

This original watercolour from 1922, entitled "Outward Bound", is by an acclaimed American artist named W.M. Birchall (1884-1941). Ironically, he was from land-locked Iowa but moved to Hastings, England where he got in touch with his often nautical themes. His works have sold for hundreds of dollars on multiple art auction sites, one fetching a price of over $2,000 (U.S.). This particular painting is of a multi-masted ship in the foreground that, curiously, has a steamship in the background. Seagulls adorn the work. It was given a classical frame by “Fred L. Curry” in Toronto. The suggested price is $500. (Dimensions: 17.5” X 14”) (Personal Note on my suggested price: I sure don’t know how much the item offered might be worth to you or any official appraiser, but it reflects what it is worth to me if I were to part with it. The descriptions match my best, honest and, undoubtedly, imperfect, unprofessional efforts. All the best to all of you.)
