A 5-cent stamp commemorating one hundred years of service by the Salvation Army was placed on sale at New York. New York on July 2, 1965. The Salvation Army is a Christian church and international charitable organisation structured in a quasi-military fashion. The organisation is present in 127 countries, running charity shops, operating shelters for the homeless and disaster relief and humanitarian aid to developing countries.
