A 5-cent stamp commemorating the 150th Anniversary Mississippi Statehood (1817-1967) was issued December 11, 1967. It pictures the magnolia officially designated as the State Flower by the 1952 Legislature. The cover has an illustration of the early state capital building as well as David Holmes, the first Governor.
