The Alexander Doll Company was founded in 1923 by Beatrice Alexander Behman and her sisters, Rose Alexander Schrecking, Florence Alexander Rapport, and Jean Alexander Disick, thus the name. The company is still in business today, although it has changed ownership twice.
Their parents owned the first doll hospital in the United States. The girls grew up with an appreciation for fine dolls, and a respect on how to take care of them. The first Alexander dolls were made with cloth faces and soon were replaced with molded faces. Alexander used the finest materials available and took great pride in the way they were dressed and presented.
This is a Madame Alexander "Baby Genius" doll with a soft body. She has a hard plastic head and stuffed vinyl arms and legs. Her tiny finger nails are polished. She has molded hair and beautiful blue sleep eyes with full lashes and painted eyebrows. She has been redressed. Alexander is stamped on the back of her neck.
There are a few tiny marks on the back of her head and her crier (Mama) only works sporadically.
She is in "EXCELLENT CONDITION" and is part of a 40+ year collectiion.
