Armless man in Shackles - Carved From Single Piece of Wood
This seems to be a rare piece, cannot find anything like it in my research. Most similar sculptures are much larger, while this is much easier to display at 29cm tall.
Subject matter potentially refers to times of slavery, a man in shackles, with only one arm. Kneeling down. Very well carved, much detail in this piece.
Carved from one piece of wood, may be teak.
Underside is carved F.E Cuba.
Great outsider art piece. Do not know the age or where it is from but this is a one of a kind carving.
A great addition to a collection of slave art.
CONDITION Great condition, one small scratch on one rear shoulder, as photographed. Some cracks in the wood base, as expected from age. You could clean it up with some furniture oil, other wise leave as-is.
SIZE 9cm square base 29cm overall height
