The banknote number is printed in red and repeated twice at the top. The serial letter is printed in red on the left of the number. In the center, the value "100" is printed three times in a large rosette. Below, the value "ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS" is printed in a black cartridge. In an oval on the left, a portrait in military uniform of Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester. On the right, the official seal of the Bank of Canada and the group number of the bill. The notes have been delivered to the Bank without signatures and without seal. These were printed in black ink typography by the internal services of the Bank of Canada. Two types of signatures: Deputy Governor John Arundel Caulfield Osborne and Governor Graham Ford Towers. Back: frame composed of ornaments and rosettes printed in dark brown monochrome. The value "100" is printed in very large numbers on the sides in rosettes and another four times in smaller ones. In the corners, the letter "C" is printed in a medallion. Above, the text of the issuing institute "BANK OF CANADA" is printed in the center curved. In the middle, an allegory of trade and industry with a seated man showing a boat model to a child. In the background, a maritime embarkation dock on the right and an industrial scene on the left. The photo note (Ref: # BC-15) was sold in About Uncirculated at $ 3,450.00 by Heritage Auctions, Auction # 418, Lot # 16110, from The Halton Lake Collection, 2006.

Printed by Canadian Bank Note Company Ltd., the $100 note carries a portrait of Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester, third son of King George V and Queen Mary. The prince is wearing the uniform of a captain of the 10th Royal Hussars Regiment. The portrait photographer was Vandyke, and the engraving was done by American Bank Note Company’s Will Ford. On the back of the note is an allegorical figure representing commerce and industry.

These are certainly far from the most flashy, colorful, or popular Canadian bank notes. However, many examples can be quite rare and valuable. We are looking at 1935 $100 bills from La Banque Du Canada. Each note has an engraved portrait of Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester. The back shows a vignette of a man holding a ship and instructing a child. It is supposed to represent Commerce and Industry. Each note was printed by The Canadian Bank Note Company, Limited. The bottom of our guide has more information about how to price French version 1935 $100 bills.
