These are First Edition - copyright 1973 - by Jacques Yves Cousteau the world famous inventor of scuba tanks and the Captain of the famous Calypso research vessel made famous in song by John Denver. The voyages of Jacques Cousteau were the topic of a tv series and he ran the famous Marine research facility in Monaco, and after his death his surviving son continues his legacy. The series was published by Danbury Press I was lucky enough as a diver to meet the crew and tour the Calypso when I dove in the Caribbean in the early 1970s. These are hard cover books, beautifully printed and bound, full of colour and detail, and each volume covers a different topic such as The Act of Life, Oasis in Space, Attack and Defence, Mammals in the Sea, A Sea of Legends, Riches of the Sea, etc. . A wealth of information and entertainment in every volume, which is as relevant today as when these were printed. Vol. 20 is a Guide to the Sea and the Index for all the vols. in the set. Large easy to read print, with beautiful full-colour photographs, detailed colourful charts, etc.. So many subjects to explore yourself, or to give as a gift. Each vol. is in perfect condition. They came monthly in the mail and this set was not even read by the original owner my mom (we both read my set instead and kept this set untouched), and she just placed them on the book shelf and kept them in pristine condition so each volume is in perfect condition. You can learn with your children and teach them to respect our precious ocean world and learn to keep it safe. Great source for school projects. An excellent learning experience. Would make a great gift for you or your children or grandchildren. I have seen the odd volume or sometimes the odd set online often in US Dollars plus shipping (and these are heavy books) and they were not in pristine condition.
