"William Emmerson Oulsnam, one of the Potteries Victorian entrepreneurs, traded as a Tobacco dealer before joining in partnership with Holdcroft, producing Earthenwares at Tunstall. He was also working as a cratemaker at Greenfield at some time during this partnership. In 1872 he had moved his pottery operation to Burslem, without Holdcroft, having brought his son into the business, who had become a partner by 1880. He died in 1882 but the firm survived another 12 years to 1892. Typical of his time he took on several civic responsibilties, on the local Boards of Health at Tunstall and Burslem. "
