old invention PRECISION GRINDING milling TOOL? mystery ANTIQUE collector piece
… wow – fabulous – whatever this is! … any input would be greatly appreciated … definitely a conversation piece! ... perfect for contemporary loft decor - industrial chic / loft ...
• extremely well made (handmade) & highly detailed with dovetail joints inside the glass case as shown • no clue what this does although, appears to be some sort of grinding machine – stone wheel • solid brass spring loaded pull mechanisms on each side – when pulled out, a solid brass sliding plate is exposed & looks like something (possibly) a blade? might be clamped into? • a wood & 2 sided glass case houses the unit maybe, to shield from sparks? – case has hook closures • the workings are firmly mounted on a beautiful wood base • please, contact for additional photos • measures: 17”L (not measured with spring loaded rods extended) x 7”W (not including turning rod) x 11”H (including case) • lovely untouched condition (I only did a damp wipe to remove some of the storage dust) • some rust on wheel turning iron? rod • origin: unknown • might be a maker’s mark somewhere • age unknown but, old – most likely late 1800s • heavy unit at: 10.7 LBS. • untested – wheel turns – brass plates pull in & out – other than that; I have no idea – might require a bit of tinkering if one knows its purpose • if shipped: item will have to be double boxed due to the weight & glass • $650.00 - INSURED SHIPPING AVAILABLE
