This is a framed original 1897 Vanity Fair print of John Lawson Johnston, the creator of Bovril beef extract, titled "Dietetics", by the artist "Spy" (Sir Leslie Ward). The subject, John Lawson Johnston, was a Scottish-born businessman known for developing the iconic beef extract product Bovril. The artist, Sir Leslie Ward, used the pseudonym "Spy" and was the most famous caricaturist for Vanity Fair for over forty years. And remember, if the ad's up, it's still available!
