Description: A beautiful Paris France street café scene of the Moulin Rouge on rue Montmartre (Street). Original oil painting on canvas, by Italian born artist Antonio DeVity (1901-1993), with lively colours in the impressionist style. Beautifully framed with solid walnut or teak wood, which has a beautiful natural open grain and colouration. The signature is faintly seen on the lower right hand corner {Huile sur toile, signée en bas à droite}. Professor Antonio Devity was born in Naples Italy, as Umberto Marone.
This scene, depicts damp cobblestone streets, filled with colorful pedestrians, storefront awnings, and a horse drawn carriage, under gray skies.

Born in Reggio-Calabria of southern Italy in 1901, artist Antonio DeVity was a master of cityscape painting. He lived in Naples and later moved to Rome. After moving to Rome during early adulthood, he was mentored by famous painter Giacomo Balla, an artist credited as co-founder of the Futurism movement. The stunning streets of Paris and sweeping canals of Venice became the focus of Antonio DeVity's paintings.
Artist Antonio DeVity's Impressionist paintings of France and Italy show historical buildings and scenic waterways from the early 1900s, before the devastation of WWII destroyed much of Europe. There have been Antonio DeVity paintings for sale at auction as recently as 2014, when his piece Paris Street Scene sold 21 years after his death.
