This is a circa 1915 Northwood amethyst Grape & Cable stemmed, covered sweetmeat compote. With the lid on, it is 9 inches tall. The inside of the bowl is 4 inches in diameter. The lid is 4 inches tall and 4 1/4 inches in diameter. The inside of the lid is plain, not iridized and bears the N-in-a-circle trademark. The outside of the bowl part has wonderful teal, blue, magenta and bronze iridescence. The grape clusters and stippled leaves show no signs of wear. The inside of the bowl has super teal and amethyst/magenta iridescence all the way from the sawtooth edging to the centre of the bowl. There is no damage on the bowl's inner rim on which the lid sits. There is also no damage on the lid edging that rests on the inner rim. The lid has no damage and in particular the finial is perfect. The outside of the lid has nice gun-metal and silver iridescence. There are no chips, scratches or cracks. This is a seldom seen Grape & Cable piece of carnival glass.
