Billie Appleton, a British painter of the Lake District, home to the great poet William Wordsworth who lived there at Dove Cottage, 1799-1808 has devoted her life in capturing vignettes of this astonishing landscape.
She has toured the District and as many have before her found subjects just as touching as Wordsworth did. Billie is able to gather a collection of impressions and create her own poems out of the air she breathes. This family of birds below her gaze, being kept off the land by a sheltering barrier draws the viewer into the scene while she brings the two worlds of earth and water together.
This tiny perspective makes me yearn to see the Lake District in its entirety and not just this small perfect parcel.
Original frame and painting in good condition with a small anomaly centre picture, opposite the ducklings.
