Art deco figurine titled “Butterfly Dance”. Sculpted originally by Master Deco Artist Demetre Haralamb Chiparus in the 1920’s. The piece depicts a female dancer with elevated arms, hands clasping her ankle-high pleated skirt and creating a butterfly shape as she dances. Sharp detailing can be found in the pleats, beads, bracelets, head-wrap and entire figurine. The figurine is mounted on a solid, nickle-coated brass base similar to the original artwork. Truly detailed from head to toe. The sculpture by Chiparus was purchased at Stratford art auction for $1500 4 years ago. Originally moulded at the Fournier Foundry, France.
