Donald McPherson, Irish (1920-1986) RUA (Royal Ulster Academy). Born in Belfast he studied at the Belfast College of Art and College of Art and Design in Dublin. His preferred artistic mediums were sculpture and landscape paintings, both oils and watercolors.
He exhibited widely in London and also in Canada and the United States with solo shows throughout the 60's up until the 1980's as well as throughout Ireland.
Scenes in County Antrim were amongst McPherson’s favourite subject matter and this landscape may possibly have been painted somewhere along the Antrim coast but these homes seem typical over a wide range of Ireland.
In this painting we're deep inside the rural areas so typical of the small farming communities throughout the country.
Ornate, original vintage frame in good condition and the watercolor is in good condition, ready to hang. The watercolor is unsigned but is the twin to McPherson's "Village Afternoon" painting I have already listed. (If both are purchased $350.00 each.)
