A larger painting by noted Canadian artist Carl Madden. He has been claimed by both Canada and the United States as a native son. The truth, I suppose, lies somewhere in between?
Many of his works are found for sale in the U.S., notably Chicago and right down into Florida but about 25 years ago it was here around Kitchener/Waterloo where his works came up for sale in art shows.
His works in Galleries, depending on the size range from $800.00 to $1500.00, selling at a cost of about $1.74 per square inch according to an American appraiser from Nashville.
His main subject matter was landscapes, forests, rivers and mountains and his best work was painting the interiors of a forest landscape, approaching the heart, if you will.
Many of his woodland scenes are similar to the forest and farmland areas around Kitchener/Waterloo, Ontario just outside of Toronto but can beautifully describe the forests on the American side..
Vintage frame has light scuff marks, the painting is in good condition, ready to hang.
