Canadian artist Peter Miehm born in Kitchener, Ontario (1945 - ), studied art and design, and obtained several degrees over the course of several decades.
In between time he worked as a commercial artist, and freelance illustrator in Vancouver. An affiliation with the Warwick Art Gallery allowed him to further develop his painting. He returned to college for an education degree, and then began a career in teaching, becoming a Professor of Design and Visual Arts, at Georgian College, Barrie.
Exhibitions of his work include a 2009 show at the Double Door Studios and Gallery in Anten Mills, Ontario, the Tom Thomson Memorial Art Gallery and dozens of solo and group exhibitions all over Canada. His preferred medium is gouache on paper, (gouache is a type of paint, and its main appeal is that it is water-based. Other than that, it is very similar to acrylics).
His works do sell well as a living artist with international auctions.
This print portrays a pair of finches resting on a long needle pine. The setting is quiet and cozy, a mid winter pause in a rather active day. This is a fine print for those who enjoy birds and wildlife art. Hand signed as a limited edition, 17/300.
