John McCutcheon, ROI (Royal Institute of Oil Painters)1910-1995, a listed British painter also beloved in Scotland where so many of his works originated, painted a variety of subjects throughout the United Kingdom. Lochs, villages in all seasons, winter scenes and still lifes all came under his observation as he travelled from one part of the country to another. And judging by his titles, many of his paintings came about being in Scotland.
Here, in this painting there is no evidence of towns, villages or cities. Here is a corner of the world not accessible for use. No roads, snowmobile tracks, trains or anything human. You cannot build houses here. You can't safely play here, at least in winter. It's a forgotten corner where the artist meets the land and tries understanding his presence there.
There is much hidden here. Beautiful. Very suggestive.
Vintage frame and painting in good condition, ready to hang.
