Donald McPherson, Irish (1920-1986) RUA, (Royal Ulster Academy). Born in Belfast he studied at the Belfast College of Art and College of Art and Design in Dublin. His preferred artistic mediums were sculpture and landscape paintings, both oils and watercolors.
He exhibited widely in London and also in Canada and the United States with solo shows throughout the 60's up until the 1980's as well as throughout Ireland.
Scenes in County Antrim were amongst McPherson’s favourite subject matter and this landscape may possibly have been painted somewhere along the Antrim coast.
County Antrim is the Bible Belt of Northern Ireland and these children might be going to or from Church or School.
In this superb painting there are tall and stately trees standing in the middle of town in this perfectly ordered village and we're drawn towards the road that takes a turn around the bend.
Ornate, original vintage frame in good condition and the watercolor is in good condition, ready to hang.
