Rhys Jenkins was a prominent Welsh artist of the early 20th century specializing in Orientalism and Marine scenes, a world traveller he painted street scenes in England, Europe and the Middle East.
During the early Century these scenes were immensely popular reflecting the popularity of the National Geographic issues that brought the far-away world into people's homes.
His series of English landmarks was successful and continue to be collected today.
This is the home of Paul Bunyan (1628-1688) the author of 'Pilgrim's Progress' and who lived in this house from 1649-1655. This site was the starting point for a pilgrimage into the town and surrounding areas for several hundred years now, for those still in love with the author of this amazing book.
