Roxann Vivian Smith is a native Torontonian born in 1924 and raised across the bay on Centre Island, home to public summer family beaches, these days. What used to be an exclusive, hidden community in Toronto, covered with lakeside cottages, subsidized by the Province, overlooking Lake Ontario has been home to many artists over the years.
Her mother being an artist was a wonderful help in assisting Roxann in her career choice. What began as a hobby turned into a natural career.
She has developed a strong and distinctive style over the years, beginning with early palette knife floral works, Kensington Market and other Toronto neighborhood art works into a precise, distinctive watercolor style, painting those signature landmark Victorian homes and cottages she loves to paint.
Pursuing her career she has travelled and exhibited extensively across Canada, the U.S., France and Britain.
A listed Canadian artist, her works are with the University of British Columbia - Fine Arts Library, National Gallery of Canada, the Art Gallery of Ontario - Edward P. Taylor Research Library and Archives and the Toronto Reference Library.
Her works are quite distinctive on our walls.
The watercolor has a vintage frame with the usual bumps and scrapes, very minor in nature and enclosed in glass and the watercolor is in excellent condition. Depending on your preference I may ship this without the glass, which is so easily broken in transit. If your wish is to ship with the glass, please convo me instruction. (Unless it's plexiglass).
