Two beautiful watercolors by Des Major, a listed Canadian artist from Ottawa, educated at OCA, Ontario College of Art in Toronto with post graduate studies under John Sloan (sculpture) New York City.
"Early in his career, he worked as a graphic artist in the studios of Superior Engravers Ltd. in Hamilton. Moving to the Ottawa area in 1955, he took up a position with the Federal Government as Director of Graphic Arts.
He leans heavily to local landscape and Heritage landmarks. He is presently devoting all his time to painting in watercolor and Serigraph Printing out of his studio/gallery." -Des Major bio
The two titles are "Elliots Point", Portland, Ontario on the Big Rideau and "Left Behind", from Lanark County, Ontario, both wonderful country landscapes looking towards the Laurentians.
These two watercolors are a telescopic window into the Gatineau landscape from a talented artist. Professionally done and filled with charm and mood.
