Paul Mathews, an American from Illinois, watercolorist, gritty and spontaneous, his works are similar to Japanese watercolors, capturing elements of nature as haikus or pieces of a landscape and suggesting something much larger than what is presented.
This style of watercolor first appeared around the 1970's although I've seen some even as far back as 1950's. There are some Canadian painters like Brent Heighton and the American, Nita Engle, a very well known watercolorist, who love and explore this method of painting.
This is a large, hand signed, titled and numbered, limited edition print of a watercolor winter scene. It is graceful and masterfully done.
There is an one inch crack lower right on the glass. I would prefer to ship the piece without the glass to prevent the damage of splintering.
