VINTAGE JAPANESE GEISHA MAIKO GETA WOODEN PLATFORM SHOES Authentic vintage Geta shoes, hand-painted & hand carved from the light weight wood they have used for centuries to make these platform shoes. material straps on top that tie beneath the shoe. 8 inches long, these would have belonged to a Young Maiko or young geisha with small feet. hand painted though a little worn around the edges in Red, Black, Gold, White. Condition: there is some crazing on the paint and minor chips around the edges, you can tell they are authentic hand carved geta shoes just by looking at them though finely crafted from their time. the bottoms show the most wear but not bad and were probably used once upon a time. These are very old and I would recommend displaying only & not wearing them since the paint could get damged if done so, however they are very sturdy and well put together. These are truly one of a kind and beautiful cultural artifacts from japan.
