Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled and passionate South Indian Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge and hands-on experience in preparing authentic South Indian dishes, with expertise in regional specialties from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh. Key Responsibilities: • Prepare and cook a wide variety of authentic South Indian dishes (vegetarian). • Create traditional items such as dosa, idli, vada, sambar, rasam, and other regional delicacies (e.g. Podi, Pongal). • Develop and update menus in line with seasonal availability and customer preferences. • Ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and quality of all dishes. • Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety in the kitchen. • Manage kitchen inventory, order supplies, and control food cost. • Train and supervise kitchen staff as required. • Stay updated with culinary trends and regional innovations in South Indian cuisine. Requirements: • Proven experience as a South Indian Chef in a restaurant, hotel, or catering setup. • In-depth knowledge of South Indian ingredients, cooking methods, and presentation styles. • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple orders efficiently. • Strong organizational and communication skills. • Culinary degree or equivalent certification is preferred but not mandatory. • Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed. ________________________________________ Preferred Skills: • Experience with traditional cooking techniques such as tandoor, steaming, and clay pot cooking. • Knowledge of regional variations (e.g., Udupi, Malabar, Andhra spice profiles). • Ability to adapt traditional dishes for modern or fusion concepts. _________________________________________ --> carnaticcafe.ca@gmail.com
