    Description

Apr 30 update... want it out of my garage now. $200 obo. For full dimensions and measurements see below.

Beautiful varnished oak plywood twin loft bed with built in desk and shelves. Has been in our family for 30 years but sadly nowhere to store it now for the next generation. This was built by my grandfather with 1/2" and 5/8" oak plywood and all steel hardware. It is still rock solid today. Has a 1/2” oak plywood bed support rather than the pine slats on most children’s beds. Max load is likely north of 500lbs on the bunk – two or three children at a time can easily play up there – space is the limitation not weight. Built-in ladder on both sides means it doesn’t protrude into the room. Bed has a very small footprint overall, excellent for a small room.

Desk has a puck board surface with no scratches in it from craft knives and no marker marks. Three desk drawers are overbuilt like the rest of the bed. Plywood bottoms so you could fill them with rocks and they’ll hold. Wood on wood drawers slide incredibly smooth, no ball bearing slides, just real wood craftsmanship. The drawer frames are built so solid nothing has shifted for 30 years. Try them yourself when you come pick it up. Small shelf above the desk surface. Note the desk light is not included. I removed it, but it is easy to install any kind of desk lighting under the 1/2 “ plywood desk shelf. Three huge 18” deep storage shelves behind the desk. Matching chair comes with the bed, also ridiculously overbuilt. I have never had to retighten any hardware and the chair has been solid for 30 years, the bed was set up in my house for 10 years and still zero wobble.

IMPORTANT! – While I listed this bed as a twin size, it is slightly smaller than a twin and will not fit a standard mattress. Twin mattress is 38” x 75”, but the interior dimension for this bed is 36” x 72”. We put a memory foam mattress on it and cut off a couple inches on each side. We will throw in the mattress with the bed if you want it. It has always been in two zipped covers and fitted bed sheet over that. Never been pee’d on. Take it or leave it no sweat.

If ad is still up yes I still have it. Pick up in Willowgrove. Cash only. Largest piece is 48” x 72”. Please message me if you want more info or to come see it. Bed is now disassembled and in my garage – couldn’t wait, have to paint the room. All hardware and brackets are included, but you may want to replace the screws and bolts as some are showing signs of age. $400 obo. A new hardwood loft bed without any pine or mdf in it will cost $3000-4000 if you can find one. Try Abode Furniture in Saskatoon if you want new (formerly Oaksmith Interiors). This bed will last another 100 years, it is too strong for kids to destroy it. It’s hard enough to even scratch it.
