** Still on display at Nostalgia Warehouse on Thu 30 Oct 2025.** Leaded glass Macey dark brown 4 tier 6 part antique oak barrister lawyer elastic stacking bookcase built c1920 {Verre au plomb Macey brun foncé 4 niveaux 6 parties chêne antique avocat avocat bibliothèque empilable élastique construite c1920} Description: This attractive bookcase is in oak with four modular stacking sections ( each with a separate plinth and top? ) . The lifting fronts are leaded glass. It is extremely easy to disassemble, move and reassemble due to its modular stacking construction. It can be easily taken apart into 6 parts, which includes 4 tiers (compartments), a base and a top, and put back together with ease, all without the use of any tools. This lovely antique bookcase was likely made in the early 1900s. Leaded glass panes on sliding doors, with 4 different shapes / sizes of glass panes (e.g. triangular, diamond). This glass leaded doors of this bookcase give it much of its value, as these leaded panes are rare and expensive. Steel metal gear wheel on metal track door pull guidance system. Dark brown finish on exterior, and blond finish on the interior. Interior floors and backboards are likely maple veneer. Exterior sides are veneer covered solid wood. Exterior wood appears to be oak. Horizontal metal straps on exterior base sides of the tiers. The centre of the top front has a beaded wood strip. Cast bronze metal door pulls. Ogee top and base. Original manufacturer’s paper labels, with gold text & black background, glued to inside back of tiers: “Macey Sectional Book Case; made by Canada Furniture Manufacturers Limited; Broadfoot Box Factory, Seaforth, Ont; In ordering an exact duplicate of this section, all that is necessary is to give this no: 23 B, or 4 B Dimensions: 57. 75” H x 34” W x 12.5” D; interior effective heights: ? Condition: Good vintage condition ( 7.0 / 10 ). Warped / wavy backing boards and interior base boards, which have resulted in separated plies on the veneer covered plywood, due to humidity exposure in basement. The outermost ply on the rears of the backing boards have come off partially, or in whole, however they can be removed without loss of function. One small glass pane cracked. One metal gear wheel has come off of its track. Appears to be fully functional despite its deficiencies. The warping somewhat reduces the interior effective heights and depths of the tiers. Some separation of exterior side veneer from interior wood. It retains its original patina. The warping of wood panels will slightly reduce the interior dimensions of the compartments / tiers.
