*RECALL DISCLAIMER: Due to a supplier manufacturing issue, a defect in the printed circuit board of the front passenger Seat Weight Sensor (SWS) may develop over time. Where this condition exists, exposure to environmental humidity may lead to an internal short[1]circuit, rendering the SWS inoperative. The SWS is intended to suppress the deployment command of the front passenger seat frontal airbag, and if equipped, the knee airbag in the event of a collision where the front passenger seat occupants weight falls below a pre-determined threshold. In the event of a collision where the SWS has experienced the defect-related short-circuit, and the SWS malfunctions, the airbags may not be suppressed as intended, and may deploy, increasing the risk of injury. In case the SWS malfunctions as a result of this defect, the operator will be alerted by the illumination of the SRS warning light. This vehicle has been fully inspected and and approved for sale. A fix for this recall will be announced soon.
