Description

Looking for a reliable, fuel-efficient and well-maintained car that doesn’t leak fluids or burn oil? Look no further!

This 2002 Mazda Protégé 5 is an absolute steal at only $6,500! It has low mileage (134k), no accidents, Plus it just had well around $10,000 worth of recent work done (Some covered by warranty), so you can trust that it's in great shape.

It’s clearly priced to sell. If you see this ad, the car is still for sale.

This car was BC registered throughout it’s life but seeing as how I now live in Alberta I just had a full out of province inspection completed and it will now be Alberta Registered.

You'll love the zoom-zoom feeling of driving this car, and with 130 horsepower and 135 lb-ft of torque you’ll have no issue overtaking people on the highway. It's reliable, fuel-efficient, and fun to drive! It only cost me about $130 in gas to drive it to Vancouver, this was of course prior to this carbon tax increase.

Don't miss this opportunity to own this amazing car for only $6,500! As you’ll see if you read the listing my price is very fair. If you're interested, contact me today and let's make a deal! This is a rare opportunity, don't miss it! You won't find a better deal anywhere else!

An older Car Fax report is included! The only damage ever recorded was a broken windshield. You’ll have to pay for a new one if you want one it’s $50 to $70 depending on the level of report. I’m already losing too much money as it is.

Non-Smoking, Pet & Child Free so free of foul odours and burn marks and stains.

I purchased this car in May 2022 for $7,900 CA$H from a Dealership in Surrey, BC and I have all the receipts for the repairs and maintenance I have done since then. I’m the 3rd owner but I only put about 6,000km or less on the car since I purchased it, with more than 5,000kms being Highway (Vancouver to Hythe x2). Purchased at 128,968kms.

The car is in great shape and has no engine or warning lights on. The car runs smoothly and has no mechanical issues and has been inspected in both BC and Alberta and all issues found were fixed, test drives are welcomed but you will need to bring your own plates. It has been well maintained with frequent oil changes and fluid flushes and the oil was just changed this month (April). The only reason I'm selling it is because I got a truck and have no space for it now.

As you can see this vehicle has been very well-maintained since I purchased it and as you’ll see below, has had many new parts installed recently. All these parts were replaced since I purchased the vehicle in May of 2022, right up until April 2024.

I have the receipts as proof for all of the work and servicing I have had done with the exception of the work done by the dealership I purchased the car from since they covered all those expenses, as well as one oil change I had done as required by the Lubrico warranty (Expired) that was free.

May 2022 - Brand New Starter - Brand New Brake Pads - Brand New Rotors x3 - Brand New Calipers x3 - Brand New Air Cleaner Intake Hose - Brand New Spark Plugs - Brand New Spark Plug Wires - Brand New Air Filters

September 15th, 2022 - Brand New Water Pump & Timing Belt $1046.21 - Brand New Timing Belt Covers $225.96 - Brand New Power Steering Pump $779.03 - Brand New Engine Ignition Coil $84.17 - Brand New Horn $85.29 - Brand New Front wiper blades $25.68 - Brand New Rear wiper blade $17 - Brand New Ignition Switch $172.04 - Replaced Transmission (New one has 173,866km as of today, and was hand selected over one with lower kms due to pristine condition of the internals) $2,242.32

November 2022 – April 2024 - Brand New Radiator Cap (November 2022) $5 - Brand New Idle Air Control Valve & Gasket $448 (Dec 8th, 2022) - Brand New EGR (Exhaust Gas Re-circulation Valve) $310.87 (April 1st, 2023) - Brand New Vacuum Solenoid Switch Valve (Qty: 2) (September 2023) $24.63 - Brand New Battery (December 2023) from Costco w/ warranty and hassle free returns! $167.99 - Rear Right ABS Speed Sensor (February 2024) $45.66 - Engine Oil Pressure Sender (April 2024) $186.46 - RF Lower Control Arm (April 2024) $140.43 - RH Lower Ball Joint (April 2024) $175 - RF Side Marker, RR Tail Light, License Plate Bulbs Replaced (April 2024) $181.60

The above work alone totals well over $6,300 in Parts and Labor (Not including the work done in May or what was covered by the Lubrico warranty), and there was more done that's not listed (Like the set of 4 used tires I purchased $200, the cost of the out of province inspection $204.75, Oil Change $142.75 etc) meaning I have spent more than $14,000 on this car in total! So by selling this for just $6,500, I am losing the $7,900 I spent on the car originally before any work was done, That is insane!!! But I needed a truck, and have no need, nor room for two vehicles so there's no way around it, my loss is your gain.

The dealership I purchased the car from claims to have done a full fluid flush and oil change and that the lug nuts for the tires and sway bars were new. A full flush of the fluids was done when the transmission was replaced, for total of FOUR oil changes done since purchase (JUST DID THE 4th!).

Rust? What Rust?! The car was garage kept for most of it's life, so it's in amazing condition for it's age, but you will find some very very minor and minimal surface rust if you look hard enough.. At least it took me quite a while.

Tires aren’t terrible and have good tread but you may want to get new tires next year. 1 Spare and Extra M+S Tire included. M+S Tires on Rear.

This car has the A/C Delete Mod. This means the car is lighter and more fuel efficient. This of course means it has no A/C, so if you want one, you'll need to visit the junk yard. It does have working power sunroof and windows though and as mentioned below I include a 12V Fan. And for those wondering, the heater works better in this car then in my new truck, even in sub-zero temps.

$300+ Bonus Vehicle Package Includes: - 5 L Jerry Gas Can ($15 Value) - 12V Fan to help cool you down in the summer ($40 Value). - Sun shield to keep the vehicle cooler ($15 Value) - Window cover to avoid ice on windshield in Winter or use in the summer to keep the vehicle cooler ($40 Value) - Brand New Block Heater - Not installed ($31.48 Value) - Spare tire is also included and was only used once for 2km to drive to a local tire shop so is still good. - A tire jack and tire iron is also included. - Remote Car Starter/Keyless Entry System (New in Box, complete with manuals. Not installed.) ($200 Value) - All weather mats in front of car and regular mats in rear. - Other miscellaneous items including a cable to play music from your phone, iPod etc

CONS:

- I lost the only original FOB and key while on a road trip, I got a new key cut and ordered a replacement fob and tried programming it, but it only unlocks and doesn't lock the car. No big deal, the car will auto lock after about 60 seconds, maybe I got the wrong model fob? I will include the fob and show you how to program it if you like or you can look on YouTube. There's some cheap original fobs on ebay. Alarm system will work once you get the proper FOB as it worked fine before.

- The inside rear door panels on both sides were removed at some point by the previous owner to repair the power windows and when put back in were not done so properly so there is a noticeable gap. Cosmetic only and just need to be put back proper. I have no idea how and can't be bothered to fix it, not a big deal.

- I made the mistake of taking the car through an automated Car wash (NEVER AGAIN!), this sadly caused some damage to the clearcoat, mainly on the engine hood as well as some damage to the paint in other areas, again minimal. This can be fixed for very list cost by anyone handy as seen in a number of videos on YouTube using sand paper and spray cans of clear coat and base primer. Too much work for me to care... you could always re-paint the hood.

- There is a small tear in the material on drivers side door and that’s the only damage to the interior which is very clean.
