    Things you should know about buying or adopting a pet

    While pet sellers can be reputable individuals or breeders who treat their animals well, the ease of selling pets over the Internet also makes it attractive to careless, irresponsible breeders and scammers. To protect yourself, you must be careful and believe only what you see and not what you are told. It is highly recommended to arrange for an inspection of the home where the pets are bred. This allows you to check that the mother and other animals are living in suitable conditions, being well cared for, and are in good health.

    Remember that the Kijiji Pets section is NOT intended to facilitate uncontrolled breeding, irresponsible commercial pet trading, trade of dogs or any other animal for the purpose of fighting or stud services. Any ads that are suspected of promoting this kind of activity or reported to us will be removed. Users are responsible for adhering to the applicable conditions in relation to adopting, buying, selling or listing of an ad on Kijiji.

    Kijiji encourages, where possible, the adoption of pets and encourages all pet owners to have their animals spayed or neutered as well as microchipped.

    When looking for a pet, it is important to meet the breeder or seller and examine the pet before agreeing to anything. Since Kijiji is local to your community, this should be easy to arrange. Never adopt/buy a pet from someone who is unwilling to let you see how and where the animal is living!

    PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A SENIOR CAT THAT NEED TO BE ADOPTED, WE ARE NOT SELLING HER! We are extremely loathe to list this, but right now, it is the only option we have that doesn't make us sick. At no time have we ever considered, nor will we ever, taking this beautiful cat to a rescue shelter. Sheera is about 6 years old and she is fixed.

    This beautiful cat, Sheera, loves attention, but the issue is that she was taken in by our son and ex-wife as a rescue about 5 years ago. She had been abused by her previous owners and as a result, she is very skittish and timid. Unfortunately, long story short, there was a family issue that resulted in us taking Sheera and caring for her. Our son is not in a position now to take and care for her and his ex-wife has refused to take her. Sheera loves attention, but only when she wants to let you close enough, which isn't often. Another issue is that Sheera does not get along with our other two housecats and as a result, she is very unhappy because of this conflict. Sheera would thrive in a home by herself, and hopefully learn to trust better and be very affectionate to her new owners. But she will need time, to establish trust, to see that there is no "competition" with other cats. Sheera has been fixed, but because of her skittishness, we have never been able to take her to the vet. We do not want any money for Sheera, we want to find her a good home where as being the only cat we believe she will flourish. Please feel free to message me.
