    Things you should know about buying or adopting a pet

    While pet sellers can be reputable individuals or breeders who treat their animals well, the ease of selling pets over the Internet also makes it attractive to careless, irresponsible breeders and scammers. To protect yourself, you must be careful and believe only what you see and not what you are told. It is highly recommended to arrange for an inspection of the home where the pets are bred. This allows you to check that the mother and other animals are living in suitable conditions, being well cared for, and are in good health.

    Description

    We're looking for a special someone to adopt our young exotic shorthair Pirooz as he is, very sadly, no longer the right fit for our growing family.

    The good:

    This fur baby has come from a small family who has been breeding registered exotics for decades, and his personality shows it! He is affectionate, playful, lazy, and squishy. They are a PKD negative cattery.

    He is absolutely beautiful, a mackerel tabby with a white chest, plush fur, and beautiful stripes.

    He is harness trained but has been an indoor cat and doesn't have any litter box issues.

    The not as good, why we are making this tough decision to rehome him:

    - We are about to have our first baby (was not in our plans when we adopted Pirooz) and are feeling uneasy about his behaviour in the last couple of weeks, going after my husband in an aggressive way unprovoked at times.

    - He has had some health issues - juvenile hyperplastic gingivitis, cryptorchidism (one testicle didn't descend), and recently an elevated liver enzyme on some routine bloodwork. Although we have pet insurance with Trupanion and have been treating him with the best veterinary care, we are concerned his needs may not be financially sustainable for us. We will gladly facilitate the transfer of our policy to his new friend.

    Pirooz would be best served by someone who is understanding of the needs of his special breed and circumstance, able to meet them with ease, and in a household without infants. Please phone 250-500-5389 if you are interested in welcoming him into your family.
