Royal Canadian Air Farce - Twenty Twenty (1973-1993) CD
In 1973, a fledgling Toronto comedy troupe, desperate not to find itself still out of work by Christmas, proposed to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation that CBC Radio's top priority be a new radio comedy show. The show would star the troupe performing their own material in front of a live audience, accompanied by live sound effects. And to round out the concept, the scripts would be written at the last minute and ignored anytime some good ad libs came up. For some bizarre reason, CBC Radio went for it. On Sunday, December 9, 1973, the Royal Canadian Air Farce broadcast its very first show. And the rest (to coin a phrase) is comedy. [Courtesy: RCAF Website]
