Leash skills: Great. Thanos uses a prong collar and can be easily corrected if and when needed
Known commands: Sit, stay, down, come, off, paw, stand, drop (if he picks up something he shouldn’t have) when walking Thanos knows the words heel, slow, stop and cross when crossing the road
Behaviour Issues: Thanos can become overstimulated on first encounters and if you don’t give him a task right away, he will whine and sometimes bark. This usually calms down after 5-10 mins and he goes back to being a big suck.
Medical issues: Poultry allergy, prone to ear infections if they’re not cleaned regularly.
Other Observations: Thanos is the dream dog in the right hands. He just needs someone to respect his space and allow time to build some trust and he is the most loyal companion. Thanos LOVES walks, hikes, swimming, car rides and really just loves to be with his owners/care givers. He would do best in a home with adults/teenagers only who are familiar with power breeds. I believe he would also do great with another female dog if put in an environment they can run freely together, although he has been an only pet his whole life up to now.
Reason for Surrender or transfer: We have an illness in the home caused by severe dog allergies. This decision did not come lightly because Thanos is apart of our family. We’ve had him since 8 weeks old and have tried everything we possibly could given our living situation to keep him. Our whole house has just become a maze because we’ve had to restrict him from all common areas due to how bad it’s gotten. This makes him so sad because Thanos is the most loyal and loving dog to his caregivers. At one point we allowed him throughout the whole house and he was the biggest couch potato. Due to Thanos size and breed, he would thrive best in an environment where he can run free or get 2-3 20 min walks a day with lots of love and affection from his new forever home.
