A certification in Mental Health First Aid will provide you with the skills and knowledge to support individuals experiencing a decline in their mental wellbeing. This course is intended for adults interacting with other adults (18+). This course intends to encourage its participants to feel more confident speaking with others about mental health. Participants will learn about various mental health disorders, ways to identify the signs of a decline in someone’s mental wellbeing, how to offer support, and the importance of self-care.
Course Structure:
Module 1 – Self-Directed Learning (2 hours online)
Introduction to MHFA
Module 2 – Virtual Learning with Facilitator (3.5 hours online via Zoom)
MHFA skills and implementation for declining mental wellbeing
Communicating effectively, respectfully, and non-judgmentally
Module 3 – Virtual Learning with Facilitator (3.5 hours online via Zoom)
MHFA skills and implementation for crisis situations: mental health/substance use
Maintaining self-care

*Participants must fully complete all three modules to be eligible for certification.
*Certification does not expire.
*Instructions and access to Module 1 will be provided via email by Monday April 15, 2024.
*Module 1 must be completed by 5:00pm (EST) on Friday April 26, 2024. Certificates must be emailed to Heidi Burton to verify completion.
Cancellation Policy:
In the event that this course is cancelled, participants will be notified ahead of time and alternate dates will be provided.
Participants wanting to cancel their registration must notify the facilitator via email no later than 11:59pm EST Friday April 5 2024, in order to be eligible for a refund. After this time, participants will not be eligible for a refund.
